ISOLDE PHYSICS COORDINATOR
We are calling for applications for the position of ISOLDE Physics coordinator.
The coordinator is responsible for the management of the experimental physics programme at the ISOLDE facility,
both at low energies and post-accelerated beams. In that capacity he/she defines the beam schedule and oversees
its implementation in cooperation with the ISOLDE technical staff. He/She acts as liaison between the users and
the technical staff. He/she will also coordinate the setting up of experiments in the ISOLDE hall in view of
HIE-ISOLDE. The Coordinator will act as deputy section leader in the absence of the Isolde leader. The
coordinator also serves as Group Leader In Matters Of Safety (GLIMOS) at ISOLDE and as scientific secretary of
the ISOLDE Neutron Time of flight Committee (INTC). The successful candidate will be a member of the ISOLDE 
physics group and can participate in any aspect of the experimental programme.

 

Qualifications: PhD in Physics with some post-doctoral experience.
Prerequisites:
-good communication and organizational skills
-experience or knowledge of ISOL techniques for radioactive ion beam production
-research experience employing radioactive ion beams
-some acquaintance with the physics programme at ISOLDE.
Competences:

The technical competencies required for this post are:

  • Organisation, planning and control

  • Knowledge of nuclear physics and/or nuclear applications.

  • Knowledge of measurement techniques for ionising radiation

  • Beam production

The behavioural competencies required for this post are:

  • Solving Problems: Recognises what is essential; discriminates between important and peripheral

    Is able to deal with ambiguous or unpredictable situations. 
The CERN staff contract will be a limited duration contract offered for 3 years starting from October 1st 2015.
