1. Introduction by Chairperson and agenda (MJB)
MJ Borge opens up the meeting. After discussions, it was decided unanimously that the Standing Group for the Upgrade of Isolde becomes the Group for Upgrade of Isolde (GUI).
2. Review TISD in 2013 (AG, TM, CS, JPR) and 4. Past beam developments, new priorities.
Review of the ongoing developments under LS1 was reported by AG, TM, CS, and JPR. After the 1st online tests on an improved neutron converter geometry, a second geometry as a doughnut shape is being developped in collaboration with TRIUMF. A nanostructured UCx target has been tested at ISOLDE within the ENSAR ActiLab. Increased yields of neutron rich fission products, such as Cs, were observed, as well as good and steady yields of 11Be. Future tests are required to confirm these encouraging results. A molten salt target unit has been operated and produced intense 11C beams as CO+ ion beams.
A Table of active IS experiments requiring beam developments was then shown. They consequently join the priority-1 list of beam developments for approved experiments, if they had not been included beforehand:
9C (IS445), 56,57Co (IS450, IS492, IS501), 211m,212mPo (IS456), 207-210Hg&208-214Tl (IS463), 31Ar (IS476), 77Br (IS487, IS492), 70Kr, 46-48Ar (IS490), 118Te (IS516), 140,141Pr (IS517), 221-223At, 202-205Au (IS518), 144Ba (IS523), 37K (IS527), 76-79Cu (IS535). 113-118Ba (IS545).
Discussions went on defining a new list of priorities for beam developments in 2013. Because of LS1, only offline activities and online tests at other facilities can take place. With the present team, the following list of developments will be ongoing: 8B, 9C, 37K, the LIEBE project, the nano-UCx within ActILab-ENSAR, the refractory molecular beams combined with RILIS, the new neutron converter geometry in collaboration with ISAC-TRIUMF and the Ba beams.
Se as SeCO+ beams should be tested online,
3. Review of RILIS developments and activities during LS1 (B. Marsh)
B. Marsh reported on activities for the LARIS/RILIS laboratory during LS1, such as the extension of the RILIS cabin, a dedicated high power laser for non-resonant ionization, a machine protection system, space stabilization and replacement ofthe HRS laser window. In addition, there will the installation of a reference cell, improved motorization for a narrow-band TiSa, Ionization of refractory metals, and improved schemes for dual rilis. Other developments concern new MCP detection set-up, RILIS remote monitoring, thermal lensing issues, development of a power-meter targe, and ongoing developmetns at the offline and Mainz separators. This notably comprised narrow time gating with 5micros time structure with high resistance graphite cavities, inverted lines polarity as ion repeller.
RILIS schemes for Ba, Li, Cr, Er, and new requests for Ge and Hg should be followed. Tests with high resistance cavity should be pursued.
5. Isolde infrastructures during LS1 (ISCOOL, tape station,) and start-up in 2014 (T. Giles)
Presentation on the tape station was made. A fast tape station (100ms transport time) with in-beam detection capacity is foreseen. A test stand should be prepared next year, and one year of development is required. From Jan 2015, it is proposed that a fellow from PH contributes to the project.
A presentation on the status of the RFQ cooler was made. It was found misaligned, with several electrical insulators damaged. An electrode with a faulty contact might be cause of the observed instabilities. Stable beams are required for testing. Laser can be used for alignment purposes.
