ISOLDE Group Leader 2017-2020

 CERN and the ISOLDE collaboration have opened the search for the next section leader of the ISOLDE Physics Group and ISOLDE spokeperson for the period June 2017 to May 2020.

Candidates should

  • Demonstrate an outstanding research record in low energy nuclear physics, preferably using radioactive beams, and a track record in research leadership

  • Have a broad knowledge of the radioactive beam scene in Europe and worldwide

  • Show some knowledge of the ISOLDE facility and physics program

  • Hold a tenured position in their home institute from which they can take leave.

The main duties of the position include

  • Running the ISOLDE Physics Group in its day-to-day activities

  • Acting as spokesperson for the ISOLDE collaboration

  • Liaising with CERN management for matters concerning ISOLDE and more generally RIB Physics

  • Representing CERN in European contracts involving ISOLDE (currently ENSAR2)

  • Follow-up closely the HIE-ISOLDE project and support and boost the Increase of Intensity

  • Co-Organise the next edition of EMIS conference that will take place at CERN at the end of September 2018.

  • Proactively support to on-going projects TSR, EURISOL-DF

    This is a limited-duration contract for a period of three-years as CERN staff member, which will start on June 1, 2017.
